3 Days Amboseli Elephant Safari

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi / Transfer to Amboseli National Park

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or pickup from your hotel in Nairobi, you will meet your professional safari guide for a short briefing about the journey ahead. You will then depart for Amboseli National Park, a scenic drive of approximately 4–5 hours through rural Kenyan landscapes, small towns, and open plains.

Along the way, you will enjoy beautiful views of local homesteads and agricultural farmlands, with scheduled stopovers for refreshments, photography, and lunch. As you approach Amboseli, Mount Kilimanjaro begins to dominate the horizon, offering excellent photo opportunities.

Upon arrival at Amboseli National Park, you will proceed directly into the park for an introductory afternoon game drive. This is an excellent time to spot elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and various bird species as they gather around the swamps and open plains. After the game drive, you will check in at your lodge or tented camp, enjoy dinner, and relax overnight while listening to the sounds of the African wilderness.

Day 2: Full Day Game Drives in Amboseli National Park

After an early breakfast, you will set out for a morning game drive when wildlife is most active. Amboseli is famous for its large elephant families, and you are likely to see them up close as they roam freely across the plains with Mount Kilimanjaro providing a dramatic backdrop. Other wildlife commonly seen includes lions, cheetahs, hyenas, hippos, warthogs, and numerous bird species.

Mid-morning, you will continue exploring different sections of the park, including the swamp areas fed by underground rivers from Mount Kilimanjaro, which attract large concentrations of animals. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed at a designated spot within the park, allowing you to relax while still surrounded by wildlife.

In the afternoon, you will proceed with further game viewing, focusing on predator sightings and scenic landscapes ideal for photography. As the sun begins to set, you will return to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive / Return to Nairobi

After an early breakfast, you will enjoy a final morning game drive in Amboseli National Park. This is another great opportunity to spot wildlife you may have missed earlier, capture sunrise photographs of Mount Kilimanjaro, and observe animals as they begin their day.

After the game drive, you will exit the park and begin your return journey to Nairobi. Lunch will be taken en route, with scenic stops along the way. Upon arrival in Nairobi, you will be dropped off at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight or at your hotel, marking the end of your Amboseli safari experience.
